Troy Foster

lawyer and life coach Troy FosterTroy Foster has been a lawyer, businessman, marketing specialist, entrepreneur, and professor for over 20 years.  Respected by his peers, Troy has been recognized in The Best Lawyers of America for several years, and has received from his peers the highest rating for substantive knowledge and ethics.  As a partner in both large national and mid-size law firms, Troy has worked with large international corporations, small businesses, public entities and non-profits to advance their business objectives in a productive and cost-effective way.  For the last decade, in addition to his practice, Troy has been integral to firm management, helping lawyers and clients to raise their productivity and fulfill their respective goals.

In the last several years, Troy has turned to coaching and teaching.  He works with people to help them achieve their goals, attain work-life balance, build their businesses, and make certain they are striving for what they truly want.  Troy also frequently lectures and writes on various topics – including achieving the “balance,” developing writing and organizational skills that will improve clients’ careers and lives, and best practices for managers and supervisors.

Serving his community, Troy has served as an adjunct professor for law schools in Arizona and Indiana, as a judge pro tempore for the Arizona Superior Court, and on the Boards for the Make A Wish Foundation and Junior Achievement, and as the Executive Director for Standup for Kids and Henry’s Hope.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Troy worked in the trenches as an executive in the human resources arena, focusing on hiring, discipline, and retention issues – where he learned the delicate balance between business decisions and the legal impact of those decisions.

While in law school at Arizona State University, Troy served as the Editor-in-Chief of the law review, graduated magna cum laude, and received the law school’s Outstanding Service Award.  After law school, Troy clerked for a federal appellate judge and a state appellate judge.  Troy also served on the staff of the Honorable Congressman Bob Stump for several years.

Cracking the Nut

Ahead of all the rest, Troy is a proud husband and lucky father of four beautiful and energetic children.  His wife and children have helped Troy maintain the balance between work and the rest.  That was not always the case.  Like many, Troy got caught up in the rat race, wanted to get off the wheel, but just didn’t know how.

His life changed dramatically when one of his children was diagnosed with a life-threatening and likely terminal illness.  The balance was no longer a choice; it had to happen.  Through much trial and error, over the last many years, Troy has developed strategies to achieve that balance.  He found that his practice actually grew more and he was happier – when he put the tools in place.  And, helping others get there has become a passion for him.  Having seen many professionals (like him before) that want to find the balance and just can’t or don’t prioritize it, Troy is committed to helping that become a reality.

Troy doesn’t take himself too seriously.  He likes being creative while working.  Knowing that trainings for managers can be dry and boring, Troy decided to create a SNL meets The Office news show for his clients – “Quid Pro Quo.”  The second season is in production.

Also, in the hopes of making work fun for his clients, Troy wrote the blog “That’s What She Said,” based on the NBC television show, The Office, for several years.

Troy enjoys reading, writing, movies, hiking, tennis, and spending time with his family.
