Ferocious Career Coaches

Learn Why Everyone’s Getting Career Coaches These Days — and Why the Discerning Client Chooses Feroce and its Feroce Flow™ Coaching System

Using our years of gut instinct and the latest scientifically-validated research on the Science of Happiness, our executive career coaches have helped thousands of clients like you find happiness in work and play. You’re not alone!

I’m Cameron Powell, and over the lastExecutive Career Coach Cameron Powell decade I’ve become one of the most sought-after career coaches in North America precisely because I have developed a deep, almost intuitive understanding of how you came to be where you are, and how you can get where in your heart of hearts you may already know you want to be in your career:  in flow, the state of “being so involved in an activity that nothing else seems to matter,” characterized by “a sense of exhilaration, a deep sense of enjoyment”, where you lose track of time and work is indistinguishable from play.  (from Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi’s groundbreaking Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience).

Discover What You Excel at — and Learn How to Stop Making So Much Effort to “Fix” Your Weaknesses!

Flow can only come from using your true strengths — which must include your passions! — in the service of meaningful, challenging work.  At Feroce, we show you how to identify your passions and strengths, help you work through your fear of owning them (and other internal obstacles), and move into a life of peace and happiness. I selected the best career coaches in the United States and Canada because they proved more than able to match my unique approach:  Feroce Flow, the Science of Happiness married to the explosive new discipline of Positive Psychology — a discipline no one has embraced as heartily as coaches, and no coaches as much ours.

You’re feeling down lately, right? Not fulfilled. Maybe you have a toxic work situation, or suffer from dealing with an emotionally unskillful boss. Most likely you haven’t enjoyed your work in a long, long time. Is this really all there is?  Where is the happiness I thought all my choices and hard work would lead to? Irritable? Or have you gone straight through irritable to just plain sad — disappointed in and angry at yourself? We’re betting your thoughts about yourself, by now, amount to a kind of internal violence.

And that’s bad mojo for making important decisions. Before you choose a career — indeed, before you can intelligently choose a career that’s not going to be like going from frying pan to fire — you need to get to a better place. You want to make decisions from a place of personal power, not weakness — from authenticity and clarity, not desperation, resignation, or despair.

You’re often “stressed” (a word that conceals the underlying emotions, and therefore solutions, and should be removed from your vocabulary!). You dread work, or spend it online or in resumes and useless job sites (we’ll explain why in your free consultation). Your relationships are strained, of course — you’re unhappy! You’re not yourself. You haven’t been yourself since you stopped listening to yourself — to that one true voice, and to what your heart tells you.

You’re not in FLOW – where every person on his or her deathbed most wants to be able to say he or she has been. You’ve been in FLOW before, but the fact that you’re now unhappy shows you didn’t know how to pay attention to what you were experiencing. Have you ever been so absorbed in something that you lost track of time? It didn’t feel like work at all.

“You were born with an inner guidance system that tells you when you are on or off purpose by the amount of joy you are experiencing.  The things that bring you the greatest joy are in alignment with your purpose.”  Jack Canfield, The Success Principles

That’s FLOW. The job of the career coach is to help you re-discover the experiences that are uniquely capable of bringing YOU (not your spouse, parents, graduate school peers, or anyone else) into a state of FLOW.

“Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.”  Confucius

How You Lost Your Way

How did you get to this place? How did you choose such an unhappy path? Makes you doubt yourself, right? — if you could get into such a mess, such an unhappy relationship, then something must be wrong with you — or so you think. It’s exactly such recriminating thinking that steals your power and clarity as you try to make new decisions.

It began with influence — influence from others. You got a bunch of ideas and values and even voices in your head courtesy of others. You know who they are. Pretty soon, you took over, imagining the same values and voices were yours, imagining that if you just made all the safe choices (from your perspective), happiness would somehow arrive. By now you’re probably feeling pretty betrayed. “I’ll be happy when” is a great North American disease. Goals and decisions that begin with “I should” — what you think you ought to do rather than what you feel and know would feel good and right — are symptoms of your difficulty.

What’s Feroce Flow?

Feroce Flow includes guiding people just like you into your internal compass — into feeling your values and feeling what brings you joy, or FLOW.  All decisions, including career and relationship choices, are based on values.  (These values include your fears).  All values are based on feelings, because if you didn’t feel, how could you possibly know what was important to you?  (And if you didn’t feel the feeling of fear about change, what could possibly stand in the way of what was important to you?)  Coaching aims to get you to feel your values and to find FLOW often enough that your direction becomes as clear to you as feeling the difference between hot and cold.  It’s what we call the power of now, intuition, gut instinct — or what we also call executive decisionmaking ability.  It’s the thin-slicing popularized in Malcolm Gladwell’s Blink:  The Power of Thinking Without Thinking. It’s your internal compass.  And once you’re past a certain age, you can’t get happily anywhere without it.

You’ve heard or read of thin-slicing (in Blink), and you’ve wondered how you too could become able to know or do things others can’t fathom.  (Here’s a hint:  it starts with what impassions you).  You’ve read The Power of Now and you totally get why being in the present is the key to happiness and clarity in decision-making, but you have no idea where to begin.  (We’ll show you how easy it is).  You’ve heard you’re supposed to do what you love and the money will follow, but you’ve always wondered if anyone really has the courage and cleverness to make it happen (yes; we call them our clients).

Hand-picked to Assure You True Expertise and Experience (Ready to Get Rid of Your Boss?)

Clients love our unbeatable selection of career-change coaches, handpicked from the best coaches all over North America — and they love that I’ve already vetted them for you per my own exacting standards:  they’re highly trained, they’re experienced, and, last but not least, they’ve had real, successful careers outside of coaching.  That’s what makes a great career coach!  There’s also the Feroce Promise: providing you with the right coach, all the time. Your Personal Success Team will ensure one-stop coaching, no matter how often your goals change over time.  (Looking for a career-advancement coach or our executive coaches?)

Coaching is still a profession in its youth.  No state has any accreditation requirements or other standards of excellence for coaches.  But coaching schools are now ubiquitous, and presumably profitable.  And so, in ever-larger numbers, people are calling themselves coaches.  As you can imagine, none of this guarantees that the coach you find on the Internet has the experience, expertise, and ability that you need.  As one of our clients put it when she first wrote us:

I have contacted other career/life coaches and found them very wanting — they are either people who have never really been thru “tough times” or can understand my situation; come up with completely unrealistic suggestions that will not play out in the REAL workplace of today; or are people who have gotten severance package deals when they were laid off a couple of years ago and have decided to have the ‘luxury’ of coaching people – but again have no real practical experience to give me.

Who can guarantee you this experience, both practical and in coaching itself? I can. That’s why I started Feroce Coaching:  to provide serious coaching candidates with the best in coaching.  I’ve spent the last six years scouring the field for career coaches you can bank on.

The career coach isn’t just for corporate executives, athletes, and celebrities anymore. Because of coaching, thousands of real people now love their careers as they never thought they could.

  • Quantum Leaps.  Are you trying to change careers entirely?  Would you like a job that you think your resume won’t support?  We can show you how to make a quantum leap that is not predicted by your resume or background!

The Search Phase:  Job Search or Vetting of Business Ideas

Clients seeking coaching on jobs, resumes and cover letters, employment, and their careers come to Feroce with one or more of the early warning signs of career trouble, and we work with them all.  Do you know how to use social media to get the desirable jobs?  Did you know that 70% of jobs are found through networking (online and off), and that the figure for the desirable jobs is even higher?  We’ll show you how to work necessities like LinkedIn like a Jedi. Do you know how to get past companies’ automated resume-reading software?  We’ll show you how to do all these things so you have an edge on your competition.

I’m Cameron Powell, founder of Feroce, Head Coach, and career coach.  I’ve successfully navigated several careers myself:  public speaker, attorney, executive, entrepreneur, writer (published and unpublished, small-scale and big-time), and more.  I have mastered the art of personal reinvention, but, more importantly, I have maintained my personal integrity and work-life balance, managed my time well, and pursued an ethic of excellence and personal fulfillment. I spend my days aligned with what I love — in nature and creating — writing, skiing, coaching, building businesses, consulting, speaking, yoga, hiking . . . (Winter clients know that between 10a.m. and 3p.m. I’ve blocked out my schedule for skiing). In a few short years, I went from being where you are today to managing to create exactly the life and career I want — many clients do it faster!  But I want to get you yours.

I have coached many clients over the years on how to start looking for the career that gives them meaning and passion. If you’re interested in working with me, just ask (in the free consultation form).  But now, let me tell you about the career coaches I’ve spent the last six years finding. The rules for work are changing.  We’re being judged by a new yardstick; not just by how smart we are, or by our training and expertise, but also by how well we handle ourselves and each other. Daniel Goleman

Wanda Ropa is a Master’s certified career coach from the College of Executive Coaching who will fundamentally improve your career advantage and help you discover how to leverage your current experience and skills.  She is an expert on careers.  If the Guinness Book of World Records measured careers, she’d probably have the record for the number of diverse careers; anything is possible with the right tools and resources.  From therapist, to certified coach, from the clinical world to the corporate jungle; in HR, training, consulting, sales, marketing, branding, successfully running multiple businesses, with many roles in between, Wanda discovered that the most common factor in becoming successful in your career is leveraging your natural strengths and talents and matching an occupation that allows you to shine!

Currently, she is involved in 3 major start-ups as chief strategist and partner, running a successful coaching and consulting practice, and in the process of launching innovative programs and tools that leverage neuroscience, psychology, and creativity to shift individuals to achieve guaranteed success.

Wanda entered the business world as a headhunter specializing in technical and executive search.  Armed with the secrets recruiters don’t tell you, Wanda established human resources departments, trained hiring managers how to interview, launched one of the earliest Internet recruiting sites that was later acquired by CareerBuilder.com, recruited, interviewed and hired over thousands of candidates for entry-level through the executive ranks, developed career expos, facilitated job search and career workshops, and personally coached thousands of individuals to be successful in their careers.  She has over 25 years in organizational consulting, executive coaching, training, and human resources across diverse industries, including manufacturing, IT, telecommunications, media, call centers, biotechnology, health care, and financial arenas.  She can help you create your personal brand, so you begin to stand out for your unique abilities as an employee, a business owner, an executive, or anything in-between.

The big question:  If all of us are born with creative talents, what distinguishes the men and women who are recognized for their creative achievements in diverse fields, such as science, engineering, marketing, art, music, manufacturing, literature, poetry, architecture, to name a few? The differences lie in how they uniquely respond to life’s stimuli and triggers, based on the resources and tools they possess.

A Soulful Yet Strategic Approach To Finding The Right Career

I’m Laura Svolos, a Certified Professional Coach who specializes in helping people to find a more fulfilling career and to navigate the transition skillfully, methodically, and strategically. I also help individuals with their resumes, cover letters, and talking points for interviews. I believe that finding the right job is a process that begins by knowing oneself. So my coaching begins with a self assessment process in which I use a variety of assessment tools to help you gain clarity about your:

  • values (what’s most important to you at this stage of your life);
  • skills and strengths (those that you enjoy using); and
  • key criteria for an optimal work environment (yes, such a thing does exist!)

This self assessment process ensures you are laying the right foundation for finding a fulfilling job. It also pays off down the road during the interviewing stage because people who are comfortable with who they are and who know themselves well tend to do better in interview situations.

So you know yourself but can you stay true to your self?

Once we discover your ideal job, my career coaching helps you to navigate the transition and most importantly, stay true to your self. This is where it can get tricky because many of us might find the career that makes our soul sing but our egoic/logical mind stands in the way. It stands in the way by wearing all the usual guises of fear-based thinking. And because your ego knows you better than anyone, it knows the soundtrack that will most likely keep you stuck. This is where my coaching can help you to stay the course by gaining mastery over your little self (your egoic mind) so you can let your big self (your Spirit) guide you to the job that will make you want to jump out of bed in the morning. That said, I understand that following the path of your Spirit has to yield enough income to meet your financial goals. So my coaching is very grounded in reality. I’ll help you navigate the transition to your dream job skillfully, methodically, and strategically.

Selected Background

My coaching draws upon my communication skills (I hold a master’s degree in journalism from a top ranked journalism school); my spiritual training (I studied Eastern spiritual wisdom and was ordained a Swami of Kriya Yoga); and my strengths as a strategic, analytical, and intuitive thinker. I also draw upon 22 years of professional experience spanning industries such as politics, entertainment, journalism, and not-for-profit. I have managed communications, fundraising, and marketing departments; have successfully launched a consulting business in which I grew and eventually sold; and have broken into two notoriously nepotistic industries without any contacts.

On a personal note, I derive a lot of satisfaction from helping clients find a job that they are passionate about because this has been my path. At the age of 29, I left an unfulfilling job in the film business and took some time off to re-evaluate my life and my goals. I wanted to do something more meaningful with my skills. But I didn’t want to just jump into something that sounded interesting and find out later that it wasn’t the right fit. So I consulted with a career counselor (as there weren’t coaches back then). As a result, I started a new career in nonprofit. After three months in an entry-level position, I was promoted to the director of the department. I spent another 10 years in nonprofit and for six of those years, I owned a successful nonprofit consulting firm. I believe I was successful because this career was a bull’s eye match for me in terms of my values, strengths, and skills. So I am passionate about what I do as a career coach because I know from personal experience that it works.

  • Develop and put into action an individualized strategy to meet your life goals and aspirations
  • Take more action that improves your life
  • Understand yourself better and know yourself at a deeper level
  • Clarify where you are going in your life
  • Learn why you have been unsatisfied with present vocational situation
  • Looking at your personal vision
  • Set up goals and a plan for you to follow
  • Market yourself

What do I want to do when I grow up?

I hear this frequently from clients.  For some people, they know at 16 what they want to do; others search a whole life time to find career satisfaction and clarity.  Why is it hard for some?  Much goes back to our family background, expectations from others, the values and systems that influence us.

We have found from research that it is important to have a career “vision” and to look to certain factors to help us make a choice.  These factors are: Abilities, Skills, Interests, Personality, Values, Family of Origin, Vision and Goals, Career Cycle (or, Where am I in my life?)

What are Abilities, Anyway?

Abilities are our permanent set of talents and natural strengths. They stabilize in a person’s life at about age 14 and are virtually the same throughout the person’s working years. Abilities implicate the ways we learn, communicate, make decisions, and use our creative and mental talents.

The Illuminating Power of Assessments

Our research has shown us that utilizing assessments to understand you at a deeper level will be very helpful to our work. All assessments are taken online and will be discussed on the telephone. Our “golden” assessment, which has given much clarity to many people, is The Highlands Ability Battery. The Highlands, as it’s called, is a 3½-hour test, taken online, that reveals those innate abilities of a person that are formed by the age of 16.  It also reveals an optimal work situation, compatible work roles, artistic abilities, and learning styles.

Other assessments utilized are the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and the Strong Interest Inventory (SII).  The Myers Briggs reveals information about a person’s personality, temperament and compatible careers.  The Strong Interest Inventory is a short test revealing information about a person’s interests.  Participants receive a computerized report with different career suggestions and fields to explore.
